Firearms Safety Policy |
Safety mishaps, particularly with firearms, expose the organization to liability
issues and could significantly damage NWCDL's credibility as a gun rights
organization. At all events, the following rules shall be strictly observed:

1. Loaded firearms shall NEVER be handled; they will remain holstered
or otherwise secured at all times.

2.
During range activities the policies and rules of the range master or senior
instructor shall be strictly observed.
Besides those general rules, the following basic safety rules shall always be
followed without exception:

1. Treat all guns as if they are loaded at all times.

a. Check condition of readiness.
-
b. By opening the mechanical action..
-
c. By visual or physical inspection.
2. Never point the firearm at anything you are unwilling to shoot or
destroy.

a. Make the best choice at the time.
-
b. Look to your situation and/or environment.
-
c. Keep the gun pointed in the safest possible direction.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until the sites are on the target.

a. Index the trigger finger.
4. Be sure of your target and what lies behind and beyond it.
